Steeple Aston

Hi There,

No luck in my search for the former Chequers Pub in Steeple Aston. Has anyone any idea if there is a local history or genealogy society in Steeple Aston?

I live in neighbouring North Aston. I have a copy of Rev Brookes "A History of Steeple Aston & Middle Aston" (published The King's Stone Press 1924) but can find no record there of a Chequers in Steeple Aston. The only existing pubs are the Red Lion and the White Lion. Technically Hopcrofts Holt Hotel (historically, Hopcrafts, with an 'a') is also in the parish, but not physically within the village.

There is a very active monthly newsletter and I'm sure the editor would be interested to publish a request for information. If you have some more details, pass them on to me, or I could pm her email address to you.
