    Default Joseph Gill

    Hello
This is a very complicated forum, but maybe this attempt will get through.
I am researching Joseph Parkinson Gill who married Jane Shelton in Mansfield in 1858. They had children Mary Ann, likely Edwin Parkinson Gill and Lucy Ann in 1868. They then seem to have disappeared. They did not immigrate to Canada. A Joseph Gill was on the 1881 on a prison hulk in Portsea Hamp, but there were a number of Joseph Gill in Nottinghamshire. He may be the Joseph Gill born in Upton about 1826, son of William and Harriet.

    Me again

Where did you get the name Joseph Parkinson Gill from? Marriage cert? What exactly did it say? Do you have birth certs for any of the children?

Please tell us all - we may be able to suggest likely avenues for research.

Back to your original... what is your source for Joseph Gill born in Upton in about 1826? I have a transcript for the Upton baptism register (GILLs only) and I don't see a Joseph GILL within 20 years of that date. But my records may be patchy in the 19th century because most of my people had left Upton before then.
