Grimshaw Droylsden

Hope someone can help.
I have found my Richard Grimshaw Family on the 1841 census
He had a son John Grimshaw. John married Mary ? in about 1850. John was born in Droylsden. Mary born in Oldham (this from the 1861 census)
They had children Elizabeth, abt 1851, Robert abt 1853, Elias 1855, John 1856
It lists all the Children born in Droylsden Lancashire.
I tryed to order a birth Certificate for Elias thinking I could get Mary's last name.(also did't thing that Elias was as common a name)
I sent for the certificate General Register Office on the computer) 8d page 424 but what I got was notheing to do with the numbers I order. It was for a Elizabeth Ashton Town in County of Lancaster.they chaged the # 8d page 325.
Can anyone tell me what I should put down and how to order anything for this family?

Hi Phyllis, I've just begun researching my Grimshaw line and family notes have a Thomas Henry Being born in 1877 in Droylsden. I'm wondering if you might have any info. Until now all my research has been in Irleand for my father's family, so I'm not sure where to start. Can you give me a pointer or two for getting started?

Hello Phyllis, Looking for a marriage for Thomas about 1850 somewhere near Droylsden I found the following. Catherdral is about 6 miles from Droylsden.

Hello again, I just had another idea and search for any Grimshaws born in Droylsden. I only looked at the 1st 1000 IGI records.

*perhaps a parent search of the children born about the right time might reveal some more for both of you.

*I had a look for any Thomas Grimshaw B:c1877 in Lancs and found none in Droylsden.

It looks like all my Grimshaws were from Droylsden you will need to look into Manchester area.

When you look at that IGI for the Grimshaws born in Droylsden you said that there were 1000 born in Droylsden or is this all over England?
Tell me how to find this record if you can.

Hello Phyllis, I had another look at IGI and there are 5000 records for Grimshaw in Lancashire. To search the LDS site specifically by county you first need to select the "IGI" database using the menu down the left hand side.

On the IGI search screen

Enter: Surname
Select: All/Birth/Marriage/Death or Other
Enter: Region (British Isles), Country (England), County (Lancashire)
Click: Search.

You can then look down the list of results (200 to a page) and click on the record of interest.

Hi Phyllis, Thank You. I do believe this is my family. Thomas had a brother named Samuel who was 3-4 years younger. Their Mother was named Eliza(beth?)
