1856 Kelly & Co. Post Office Directory of Cornwall 1856

Each town, village and hamlet in the county is described, with details of local history, facilities and institutions to help you understand the lives of your ancestors. Each place has its own lists of private residents and tradespeople.

There are also separate county wide directories of private residents and classified trades. One fascinating section of this directory gives details, such as depth, workings, transport, shareholders, pursers and captains, of the mines in Cornwall and Devon.

1893 Kelly & Co. Cornwall 1893 Kelly's Directory

By this period in the late 1800s, the Kelly's directories had become very much more comprehensive. This one, of 1893 is a wonderful resource for historians and genealogists, and includes every town, village and hamlet in the county, with details of its facilities, churches, schools, etc. Lists of residents (not just those with trades, although not every household is included), and a superb classified trades directory.
