The Gen-Products Mailing ListThe whole object of the exercise here, is not for British-Genealogy.com to make huge sums by selling advertising, but to help cover the immense costs of the mailing list servers, etc. For the end user, everything is totally free. But the money has to come from somewhere!

The GEN-Products Mailing ListThink of the GEN-Products mailing list as being like the advertisements in a magazine. Anyone can read it (by subscribing), but only product publishers/producers, or those offering family history services may post advertisements. Advertisements are only allowed for genealogy related products and services. This is a simple and very effective way of announcing your products or services on a regular basis. Any posting to the GEN-Products mailing list is limited to a 15 Kb size. That is quite a lot. The equivalent of several pages of A4 print. Postings may be made in plain text format only (not html, as that is a general rule with the British-Genealogy mailing lists to prevent file attachments, viruses, etc.). The attachment of files to messages is not permitted. You may provide links within the advertisements to your web pages and email addresses. There are several "classes" of advertiser, and each has a monthly cost:
Introductory offer: available until 30 July 2003.You pay for your first month's subscription, and then have the following three months free. Effectively, four months for the cost of one month. Advertising periods start on the first day of each month, and billing periods are monthly on the last day of the month. You will be sent your first invoice on the last day of the first month, and thereafter monthly, starting on the last day of your fifth month. Payment is due strictly 30 days. Please note: advertising charges are subject to the addition of VAT at 17.5%. This also applies to overseas advertisers, as the delivery point of the advertising service is deemed to be within the UK. You will be charged for whichever advertising service you subscribe to, even if you do not place up to your maximum allowed number of advertisements in the calendar month. You may not carry forward "unused" advertisements to the following month. You must send notification in writing if you do not wish to continue your subscription, in which case you will then be removed from the list of subscribers who are allowed to post advertisements.
