Specifically for producers of commercial products and services
British-Genealogy.com offers three ways that you can advertise your products
and services.
The whole object of the exercise here, is not
for British-Genealogy.com to make huge sums by selling advertising, but to
help cover the immense costs of the mailing list servers, etc. For the end
user, everything is totally free. But the money has to come from
somewhere!
-
By sponsoring a mailing list
Each mailing list can be sponsored. When a list is sponsored, messages posted
out to subscribers have a two line header adverstising your name and web
site.

GEN-Products
A mailing list specifically for advertising products and services. This list
is available to the public, but only approved publishers/producers of products
and services can post messages to the list. (The public cannot post messages
to this list).

Your own mailing list
Your own mailing lists may take two forms, and you may have either or both
types:
-
Announcement Lists
Where you can announce new products, updates, etc.
This is a "closed" list, where only you and your staff can post messages,
but where anyone can be a subscriber and receive mail. You may add your own
subscriber list.
.
-
Discussion Lists
For users of your products and services. Anyone can be a subscriber and post
messages. This type of mailing list is particularly useful where purchasers
of your products help each other with hints and tips, etc., or ask questions.
Futhermore it takes a lot of load off your own customer support staff.
