I am researching my family history and according to the 1901 census my great great grandmother (who was 68 years old at the time) was born in "Worcs, Hark Hill". Does anybody know the whereabouts of this "Hark Hill"? I have been unable to find it on any map.
Thanks.

Worchestershire info (Hark Hill)
Chris,
I have looked on a map that I have of the Droitwich area, but cannot find Hark's Hill. In case you are interested, the map is at
http://cgi.smilodon.plus.com/cgi-bin...rd=12&ycoord=9
A very good source of written information is the A2A site (archive to archive) at
http://www.a2a.org.uk/
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Romi is quite right about A2A. I use it all the time and it just happens that it holds the only online reference I can find to "Hark Hill".

[from Scope and Content] c.175 letters, specifications, estimates, invoices and other papers relating to the erection of a house at Norton [in Stourbridge, West Midlands], for J.T. Ford Esq. and to the rebuilding of the White Hart Inn, Hark Hill, Brierley Hill [in West Midlands], for the North Worcestershire Breweries Ltd.
It does not appear in the current OS street Atlas of the West Midlands or the A to Z. There is a nearby Harts Hill

Cassells 1899 British Gazetteer makes no mention of it either.

Thanks for the replies. The 'Hark Hill' in Brierley Hill sounds very promising as it's not too far from Wolverhampton, which is where myself and the Kelly branch of my family comes from! The a2a web site looks very useful too. Amazing how many of these databases exist! Many thanks again.
