Default Help required please in reading 1851 Entry for Staffordshire

I would appreciate an opinion on reading the occupation and Birthplace of a relative, Thomas Robinson on the 1851 Census, listed by Ancestry as Morin, Staffordshire, residing in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire in 1851. Name Thomas Robinson abt 1796. References HO 107/2120. Schedule No 248, GSU No 87749

It sure looks like Morin, Staffordshire. Thought at first the M was a W, but W's started higher (half-way up, not at the bottom), and the second stem also started half-way up the first stem (see William and Mary, lines 4 and 5). I read age given as 53, making year of birth 1798 (or 1797) not 1796 - but those are commonly off...

    Dear shattonblade

I've failed to find a Morin in Staffordshire, I see that you're practically a local, being over the border in beautiful Derbyshire, what did you decide?

In Staffs, the best I could find were Milton (Stoke & Wolstanton), Lower Milton (Kidderminster) Milwich (Stone) Maer (Newcastle under Lyme)

There is a Meir today(Stoke) but I don't know if that existed in 1851?

Anyway, I've had a quick look at 1841 and I think I've found a likely chap?

    Default Thanks (again)

People are very helpful. Tea Dealer and Grocer are spot on as other family members were also Grocers.
Will settle for the name you suggested in Staffordshire.
