Ian Hunter's Essex pubs site has a new URL.
His friends are hoping to add to the information Ian had already collected.
The site also contains some non-alcoholic information, including a calendar for calculating the day of the week for any date between Jan 1st 1800 (Wednesday) and Dec 31st 2050 (Saturday).

Hello All,

Sorry I haven't replied to this thread earlier, but been having a few problems of late.

The Pubs Inns & Taverns link seems to be caput, as I can't access it anymore either ....... but thank goodness Ian Hunter's site of Essex Pubs has reappeared (thankyou Pam for letting us know).

I had copied the three pages of the Pubs which were in my Family and saved them to My Documents ...... I checked them yesterday and they are still there exactly as Ian wrote them, but the photos were red x's and the 'live links' to other photos of the family didn't work, but better than nothing!

I'm so pleased that Ian's friends are maintaining Essex Pubs in Ian's memory.

If it does become possible to add to the site again, then I can contribute another Census I have found.

I'm so pleased that Ian's friends are maintaining Essex Pubs in Ian's memory, particularly as Mythology is credited on there too, as he looked up one of my Censuses for me!

If it does become possible to add to the site again, then I can contribute another Census I have found.

There's an email link at the bottom of the opening page so please tell them about the probs with the photos, and I'm sure that they would be delighted with any additional info that you can provide.
However, reading various messages on the Essex Rootsweb list I found that most of the site is also 'preserved' in the 'Wayback machine'.

Select the version dated Aug 6th 2003 and hopefully you could get the photos from that.

Hi Pam,

Many thanks for your reply, I think you misunderstood my message about the red x's for the photos ...... this is what I have in My Documents, the saved pages from Ian's original site.

However, the good news is that I clicked on the new address for Essex Pubs, which you kindly gave us and found that the photos are showing up there, so everything is OK.

If you're curious ....... click the alpha link which covers Silvertown, then the Royal Albert for photos of my husband's Parents and then The Graving Dock Tavern ...... for a cracker of my husband's Grandfather in top hat and tails!
