    Default Page Ward

    Hello List!

I am looking for information on PAGE WARD b. 1801 Norfolk, d. June 1877 Chelsea whom I believe to be to be my gg grandfather. I have a business card which reads: PAGE WARD&Co
    Manufacturers,
    5 Ingram Court,
    Fenchurch Street, London.

My g grandfather, JOHN PAGE WARD b. 13 Oct 1828 Suffolk d. 14 Apr 1884 Montreal ,Quebec, Canada. Married ELEANOR DOGGETT, 26 Dec 1863, St Georges Church, London. Both were residing in London at the time.

Any information about PAGE WARD, his wife, date of marriage and other issue will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Lesley

Doesn't answer your question but John Page Ward of 109 City Road. commercial clerk, appears to have gone bankrupt in 1869 (Source The Times, Wed Sep 8 1869, page 4)

    Thank you Peter!!

Your tid bit of information confirms family legend. My grandmother told me that the family emigrated to Canada because John Page Ward had a business partner who ran off with the books and the money and left my g grandfather with the debt.

Is it possible for just anyone to access The Times archives?

Mary "beloved wife of Mr Page Ward of Piccadilly" died "after a few days illness" on 19 Nov 1838 (The Times 22 Nov 1838).

"Is it possible for just anyone to access The Times archives?"

The Times Digital Archive is widely available through libraries. Also, it's even more widely available on microfilm - the library may also have a separate CD based index.

There wasn't a full report of the bankruptcy - only a notice of the hearing - not really worth looking up.

Surely his (second) marriage certificate showed him as a widower?
