Marriage: Susan and Robert Woods
Hello Jean,
I found a marriage on FreeBMD in Marriages Sep Qtr 1838:
Robert Woods and Susannah Inglish, District: Billericay, Vol 12, Page 5.
Your info shows them to have a 9 year old son in 1841 which means Susan would have been only 16 when she gave birth. The above marriage details could be correct - if she had waited until she was 21 in 1838 to marry. Billericay District does cover the Stifford area (Basildon).
Other than FreeBMD which has records from Sep1837 onwards, you will need to check out the Parish Records to find any other suitable matches of marriages for your pair.
(I don't have access to 1851 census by the way!)
Best Wishes
Brenda

Many thanks for the information.
It is possible that the first child may be his from a first marriage as he is a lot older than her. They seem to do a lot of that in this family. Thank you again. I am waiting for Ann's marriage certificate to her second husband so that may help.
