Hi
The need to provide a more complete archaeological recording and mapping of the Graveyards than we previously have ever done. Photographs of each stone or marker could, in-turn, also be incorporated into this compilation to further supplement the historical archival of these slowly decaying and destroyed monuments Graveyard Project website has been on test for a few weeks and is now running, it will be updated every week.

Hi Steven,
I think it's a great idea, just wish someone had thought about doing it way back when!
When I first started this genie lark in 1994, I knew from family and burial records that my Gt. Grandparents were buried in the same grave at Thornhill in Yorkshire (1915) and that they had a headstone. I was so disappointed when I went round the graveyard and didn't find it ...... nearly as many empty spaces where headstones used to be, as those which have survived!
Best Wishes,
Diane

The web site is very good too.
Good luck!
