The "stickies" at the beginning of this topic tell you what records are available and where they are available.

    Hello Janet,

    Welcome to British-Genealogy.

You can't find any record because most service records post-1921 are still held by the MoD. However, prior to 1976 RN sailors were given their records on discharge so the records still held by the MoD are limited, though they would seem to cover at least some of the information you want. Scroll down to 'Royal Navy' section in this tutorial.

Then see here for details of how to apply for those records.

You may be able to find a mention in ADM 171 on Ancestry ("UK, Naval Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1972").

See the Research Guide for a direct link and also a link for a free download.
