Living in/near Swindon, you have two sources of directories on your doorstep. The National Monuments records have a good selection, if you are allowed to browse the shelves. I did, some years ago. Also, the Science Museum has its library at the Wroughton site of their big store. I expect their website will have details. More directories there. pwholt
