Hi,
Trying to research my fathers war records. He was stationed at RAF Shawbury from June 1939 till May 1945; he joined as a conscription role as a butcher but was later transferred to flight observation which we believe involved been self sufficient behind enemy lines reporting on air craft movement can anybody shed any light on the pathfinders at the 11th training corp? Anything is greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.

I assume that he survived the war? If not, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission is the first place to look. If he did, Your best bet is to apply for his records. The MOD is still sitting on records from WW2, but individuals can apply for them provided that the individual is deceased. There's what we call a "sticky" (a message made to stick in place) at the top of this section giving information on how to apply.
I suspect that they're swamped at the moment, so it might be a bit slow.
Are you sure that we wasn't an observer during flights? Ie part of the aircrew?
