    Default Death of Thomas Hand?

    Help required please.

Looking for the burial place/date of death of Thomas Hand, baptised 11th April 1772. Married Alice Yates 21st April 1794.

His last child was born in 1817 and Alice is shown on the 1841 census as a widow so I have to assume he died between 1817 and 1841.

    Any help gratefully received

    ps Liverpool area

You may well be right in your assumption about Thomas's date of death, but the 1841 census does not show marital status - one of life's great frustrations.

I assume that you are looking at the Alice Hand living at GRENVILLE STREET, NORTH CECILY PLACE? and born 1771?

Ancestry has a family tree showing him dying in 1840:
    Thomas Hand
    Date of Registration:Jan-Feb-Mar 1840
    Registration district:Liverpool
    Volume:20
    Page:323

    Welcome to British-Genealogy chandy2

I have moved your post from the Introduce Yourself forum to the Lancashire forum as you are asking for help (and receiving it already ) in your research.

If Thomas HAND died post 1 July 1837 you may be able to find an entry on the BMD register

    Hello Megan,

Sorry for the error. I have Alices death cert which shows her as widow (not the census). Yes that is the correct Alice. I did send for the above death cert, however it was a young boy called Thomas. As death certs were only available from late 1837 I have now had to assume that he died between 1817 and early 1837 (unless I have missed checking all the death records between 1837 and 1841).

Alice died in 1845 and it clearly shows her as a widow but Thomas doesnt seem to appear on the 1841census at all.

    Thanks for you response

    Hello,

There is one entry only for the Liverpool area in the time frame suggested and I sent for the but unfortunately it wasnt my Thomas.

I think its back to the library and check all church records.
