Hi everyone.
I'm looking for some help as I've reached a brick wall. My Great Grandfather Thomas Kirby served during WWI but I'm unable to pin down any info on him. His details are:
Thomas Kirby - born 1880 in Mexborough, Yorkshire, England. Died 18 May 1938 in Auckland, New Zealand.
His place of residence at the time of enlisting was Barnsley in Yorkshire.
I believe that he possibly served with the Royal Engineers and that he may have been a cook and possibly gassed at some point.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for looking - I know he did serve as I have two pictures of him in uniform (see below) and he is buried in the Soldiers Burial Section in Auckland.
