You are indeed a genius.Thank you so much for finding all this info for me,this is great.
It is intriguing because this is my dads paternal line & finding John b.1836 was in the 92nd Foot soldiers even more so.
My dads maternal Gt Grandfather was also in the 92nd Foot soldiers 1817-1839.

    Kind regards

The Blackburn Standard, Wed 11 July, 1838

His death was reported as follows "..... he was at one moment engaged in administering some humble nourishment to his poor wife, who had been prematurely confined in childbirth on the preceding night - and the next he lay stretched a lifeless corpse, to the agonized view of a widow and three fatherless children".

Betty ...so pleased all this ties in nicely, for me the bonus is the speculative Burial in Penwortham, that is confirmed by 'helachau's' find in the local press.

Might be interesting to look at the Parish register to see if the the officiating minister has made any comment on the record.

However my experience of Lancs opc is if there is a note they mention it in transcription!

Still not found Robert's baptism yet?!

Food for thougth.....Some of your options!!! Of theses I would favour the one with James & Alice as parents particularly as also received into Penworthen Church, after all his children were given those names!!!!!

His wife's parents being John & Alice, so Alice being both mother's name and James & John the father's

There is also another one with parents James & Alice
It is 2.March 1806 Longton (St Andrew)
I have that one in my notes.

I am a tad confused because when John was born in 1836 that would only make Robert 30 if born in 1806.
If Robert was born 1802 as you have found then he would be 34/35.
When he died his age in the paper & the burial details for Penwortham said he was 39yrs.So had Hannah/Ann given birth to another child which we do not have details of?

    Regards

    Betty

Burial: 7 Jul 1838 St Mary, Penwortham, Lancashire, England
Robert Moss - Age: 39 yrs
Betty - I was working on the basis of the burial aged 39...thinking this would be more accurate....there is always the possibility that Robert was not a babe in arms when baptised!!
