Hello! Sorry, are the Labour Corps and Royal Fusiliers you mention examples? Or are they specifically tied to Pte 29551?

Will the 29551 be a number specific to him, or would it be a regiment number or something like that?

    HI

    SO for
    Name:
    William Pullen

    Regiment or Corps:
    W York R, Labour Corps,R Fus

    Regimental Number:
    29551,425967,GS/110678

It means he initially joined West Yorkshire Regiment as Private 29551, which was his specific number in that battalion (there will be other 29551's in some other regiments). He was then transferred to the Labour Corps as Private 425967 (either he was wounded or had some skill they could use) and was then transferred to Royal Fusiliers as Private GS/110678.
Read here - https://www.1914-1918.net/soldiers/research.html , read all the links, they will give you a good overview for research and understanding.
The medal Index Card shows he was only entitled to a pair, which means he was sent to a theatre of war after 1915.
You can read more on the regiments here - https://www.1914-1918.net/westyorks.htm

To work out which battalion he was in you use the medal index card to look up the medal roll and that should say which on, but they are not online.
    Lots of research to do

    regards

    Robert
