    Default Preston Girls School

Hi guys, I need some help identifying the school that this young lady went to. Grace Sisson lived in Skeffington Road, Preston. I believe that the photo was taken circa 1907.

The Harris museum had this to say.......
There were lots of church schools in Preston with Saint names. Catholic schools included St Augustines, St Wilfrids and CofE St James etc. Girls schools were girls wore blazers are unusual. It isn’t the Park School (Girls) as their emblem was the Preston Lamb.

Maybe visit or contact the Harris Community History Library and have a look at the Preston directories for 1907 and see what names of girls schools are listed. You can contact the library staff on 01772532668

That's what my English cousin thinks also, however I am told by another person who' mother went there 1914-1917 that they didn't have a uniform. Perhaps it was dropped because of the war?\
Keen to get a define reference to the badge. Would the church archives has this and who would I contact?

Have you tried the Lancashire Archives: https://new.lancashire.gov.uk/librari...rd-office.aspx or the Lancashire FHS: https://lfhhs.org/home.php

Its official, I have re-scanned the photo and it definitely is St Matthews. The 'ws' is slightly displaced so hence the confusion.

Hi Guys, here's another one. This time its a boy in his gym uniform c 1907 also.
I have inverted the b/w picture to enhance the image. Looks to me like the Preston Lamb.

Hi Megan, not yet thanks. Not sure that joining the society will get me many of the benefits given that I live so far away.
Similar to the library, I've had mixed results with paying for researchers that don't follow the brief.
