Hello,
Trying to find information on my great grandfather Donald Archibald Ferguson, he joined the army in the highland light infantry in 1898. And I have a photo that has written on it "promoted to Warrant Officer Class 2" but that is all I know about his military career. I know he died in 1947, my grandfather said he was an unwell man.
If anyone has any information or can help in anyway I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Cat

His service record is on Ancestry. It gives a lot of information with a physical description and postings (including promotion to warrant officer) but just to establish that we have the right bloke it lists his family as
Wife: Annie Stoddart Hope married 13 June 1914 in Crawford
Children:
Mary Jane 28:7:14
Donald 25:9:15
Margaret Laing 25:4:18
The girls have other names which are difficult to read
Children appear to have been born at Elvanbank, EvanfootSue Mackay

Yes we are both looking at the same man.
I have the army admission with a description of physical appearance and I have a photo. But nothing else.
I'll have to wait until I can afford ancestry again so I can have a look. Is there a lot of information there?

If you go to Scotlandspeople you can buy credits and download the marriage cerrtificate of Donald A. Macdonald FERGUSON to Annie Stoddart HOPE in 1914 in Crawford, Lanarkshire.

Also on Ancestry, this man appears on the Silver War Badge roll. The entry confirms that CSM Ferguson, Donald was discharged on 30 May 1919 as a result of wounds received.
Are you aware that you can just buy pay-per-view credits on Ancestry?
