    Alfred's occpn given as "Furnace labourer" - so not "shoe" finisher.

    Two brothers with him, Robert and William, named as next of kin on military record

    Thank you for that. If this is him, seems he was an all round wrong-un. Not sure if I will ever know which one is him, as I have very little to go on.

    Thank you for the info. Yes, I know from other research I have done that people did falsify documents, even though it was illegal. Also, as Alfred Henry Shaw was a bigamist, he obviously wasn't averse to telling lies to cover his tracks - sounds like a nice chap!

    Thank you Peter. As I live in Cornwall a trip to the National Archives is not so easy, time and health restrictions not permitting same, but I will bear it in mind for the future, just in case one of my friends who lives nearer can help me out

    FreeBMD has the marriage of Alfred Henry Shaw, Wellingborough, Dec Qtr, 1903, 3b 324 - on the same page Florence Louisa Sharpe

    Have found Alfred and Florence Louisa on the 1911 Census at Wellingborough(cannot post details) but Alfred fits the Alfred on the 1901 Census listed above, and place of birth fits Find My Past military record place of birth

    Thank you. I had today found some of that information but couldn't find them on the census, so I appreciate that. It could well be him. Thanks to another message I received via this website, I have found out that Alfred Henry comitted bigamy again and was charged at Newcastle Assizes in 1919. That time he got 4 years! Interesting story - my husband is so proud!
