Default News of the World archives

Can anyone tell me where I might be able to access old copies of the NOTW? I am specifically looking for a copy of a letter my brother-in-law's father sent in during the 1960s (possibly 1964). The NOTW asked for wartime experiences to be shared and his letter was published.

His name was Nelson Goodhew and he served initially with the South Wales Borderers then the Queens Royal Regt. He was captured twice and shot in the leg whilst escaping but managed to make it to France where he joined the Resistance for 2 years before making his way back to England. His wife was twice told he was missing presumed dead. He also served as a "Desert Rat".

The letter gave a detailed account of his experiences and the family would love to find a copy.

    Any help gratefully received.

You could try this website, I found it by 'accident' two days ago and found an article listed concerning my own family. www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk Hope it helps.

Let us know how you got on, won't you? We'd probably also be interested in the viewing arrangements which would be new to most of us since Colindale closed.

Will do. I'm planning to go to the Boston Spa viewing room as its closer to me than London.

Unfortunately the films are only kept at the British Library, so can't be viewed at Boston Spa.
