As a new member I would be grateful if anyone recognises the uniform below, worn by my grandfather, possibly in the Boer War or early WW1

Welcome to Brit Gen.
It COULD be Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders. The Seaforths are similar, but their tartan has a white stripe in the sett which normally shows even in b/w pictures.
Do you want to tell us more about him?

Victorian Wars Forum
Hi there...
Unfortunately, I've just found the answer here: https://www.victorianwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8632. You will now have the job of trying to trace the exact nature of his 'felonious offence', but as court cases are documented and often reported in the local press that might not be tooooo daunting .
Hope you will let us know how you get on. We all love a rogue here!

I've found the link that tells me that KR1805 x 11 = misconduct. I'm assuming that means misconduct within the service and this I can readily believe!
I've also been told that he served with the army in Ireland before partition, but as this is such a delicate area and I have no idea which part of the army served there, I don't know where to go from there.
Many thanks everyone for your help !
