    Default George Tolley

    Hi All,

I am hoping someone is able to help me. I am searching for information on my Grand Uncle. After leaving the army in 1945 he disappeared without a trace. Nobody has heard a thing about him since. I have heard a story through the family that he was seen in Australia a number of years ago, but I don't know how true this could be.

Does anyone know of anyway I would be able to find some information on him that wouldn't cost a fortune.

    Many thanks

    Welcome to Brit-Gen David

We are primarily a genealogical site for finding those in our families who have long since died so we cannot name possibly living people. See our AUP Here

That said, do you know the birth date of your grand uncle, where born, what regiment in the army, did he have a middle name, parents names etc?

Have you tried Facebook, genesreunited, phone books, local papers, electoral rolls of last known address.
FreeBMD has marriages and deaths up to 1985.
ancestry is a genealogical site that has a wealth of records ranging from censuses to war records (not WW11 which are still held by the MOD) emigration records etc. You do not have to join, you can probably access their free version at your local library or join up for a 14 day free trial (remember to cancel before the 14 days is up or they will charge your credit card)

The Salvation Army also help to find lost relatives. See Here

Other Brit-Gen members may have more suggestions for you.

    Hi Christina,

I'm presuming that he may of passed away now. George was born in 1924 to parents James Tolley and Harriet Jones.

I shall take a look at the links you have suggested.

    Thank you
    David
