Yes that's them. I really think we shall have to start again and forget all that has gone before. There's a clue somewhere, but it needs finding. I think this idea that Ada Geary is the errant Ada Mary Astill under another name is a red herring. I also think that there was a Wright married a Geary, and that is where the relationship comes in. Ada Mary is still missing. Thanks for help.

Have you considered sending for the birth cert of the Geary, born 1906, on the 1911 Census?
Also, the last named Geary on the 1911 Census - added almost as an afterthought - have you found a birth record. Was "your" John Astill born John James Astill, 1897??"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

All of the information below is for me so I can keep track of what everyone else has found.
1891 RG12/2725/157/29
Church Street Drapers Yard Stapleford
Willim Astill 25 coalminer Ruddington Notts
Ada M Astill 24 Plumtree Notts
Mary E Astill 4 Normanton Lane Notts
Edwin Astill 2 Stapleford Nottinghamshire
1901 RG13/3177/118/10
25 Lucknow Street Nottingham
William Astill 37 Head Married general labourer Plumtree
Edwin Astill 12 Bramcote
William Astill 9 Stapleford
Thomas Astill 7 Stapleford
Kate Astill 5 Nottingham
John Astill 3 Nottingham
In the 1911 census the transcript says Threasa (sic) and Mary adopted child. Nowhere on the image can I see this written.
I have been trying to find the births of the older Geary children from the 1911 census at 5 Lucknow Street without much luck and as all the Gearys just have their birth place as Nottinghamshire there is no help there either. Ann Beatrice 1892, John G 1895, Mary 1904, Theresa 1906, James Geary 1897
Ada Geary is down as born Leicestershire c1871 but as Bingham (marriage reg district) is on the border of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire that may not mean anything at all.
Was your Ada married as Mary Ada not Ada Mary in 1886? Bingham registration district?
Sorry for repeating what has already been found by others but as I said I am just trying to get my head around it all.
I am researching Great Uncle John, 1897-1918
