I recently had the opportunity to go through a suitcase of photos and among them were two photos of particular interest. One appears to be the marriage photo of William Pearce and his new inlaws (1919).
Another photo is inscribed (on the back!) Horace Macdonald son of James MacDonald and indicating that James was the brother of the bride's father (Donald Macdonald who was deceased at the time of his daughter's marriage)
I am having difficulty finding either Horace or James in the census records (some sites they seem to show up and others they are absent ???)
any assistance would be appreciated
daryl

In 1911 there is a Horace, aged 10, with parents James and Lizzie, 12 Ainger Road, St. Pancras
RG14; Piece: 682
I suggest that when searching you use M*cDonald. I know from personal experience that Mc/Mac is pretty interchangeableSue Mackay

Thanks to your replies I have managed to make some progress.
I have located James Macdonald (recorded as McDonald) in the 1891 census where he is living with his brother.
These records have thrown some doubt on our previous research.
Amy Macdonald is recorded in the censuses as
1891 Amy Page McDonald aged 25 (born 1866) Kentish Town London
1901 Amy Macdonald aged 34 (born 1867) Kentish Town, London
Amy Macdonald's death certificate (1903) shows her as 36 (born 1867)
Donald McDonald and Amy Page were married in 1885 and the marriage certificates shows Amy aged 22 and her father as John Page deceased.
The only Amy Page I can find in this time period is Amy Susan Page in 1863 and her birth certificate shows that she is the daughter of John Page (coach builder journeyman) and Elizabeth Page formerly Lewis. I note that the marriage certificate is probably the only record where Amy would give her age as I imagine that Donald provided the information for census returns????
So the next step is to find this family in 1871, 1881 census (no success to date - perhaps Page is recorded as Paige, or Paye???)
Donald Macdonald shows up in the census records as
1891 Donald McDonald Tailor aged 36 (born 1855) Scotland
1901 Donald Macdonald tailor aged 44 (born 1857) Glasgow
1911 Donald Macdonald widower, Tailor aged 56 (born 1855) Glasgow
James Macdonald
1891 James McDonald tailor aged 24? (born 1867) Scotland
1901 James Macdonald Trade Union Secretary aged 43 (born 1858) Scotland
1911 James Macdonald Journeyman Tailor aged 53 (born 1858) Glasgow
I am not having any success in finding these brothers before 1891 and especially in Scotland
Donald McDonald's marriage certificate indicates that his father was Donald McDonald, tailor
Any assistance, advice or comments welcomed
thanks

Possible death of John Page age 45 September 1/4 1871 Islington 1b/227 Matches with the age in 1871 census.
I looked for this death because I am having trouble finding them in 1881 so thought maybe John died and Elizabeth remarried.Sometimes paranoia is just having all the facts.

Re Post 7 above, I think the address is 1 Pierrepont Terrace - the Enumerator has it as Peirpont Terrace on page 1 of the description of the District.
