Default Rhoda JONES' child, b 1915/1916, Cheshire

Filed with Willliam Ash's WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

A desperate letter from Rhoda JONES, of Alpha Cottages, TARPORLEY, Cheshire, trying to trace William Mapleton (which is the name Ash used to enlist in 1914).

I may be jumping to conclusions, but "I am in trouble and am anxious to trace him" - sounds as though she is expecting a child. The letter is undated, but as Mapleton/Ash was discharged for misconduct in April 1915, it is probably written later in that same year; birth probable late 1915/early 1916.

(Ash's story is a sad one - he was called up under his real name in 1916, served (and continued to misbehave) until 1918, and finished in the Middlesex County Asylum as an "Insane Soldier")
