therein lies the problem...he was born in 1804...his wife Mary ? born in 1805 and his son Thomas born 1825....all in the UK.
I am unsure as to when he arrived....he lived in Lennox and Addington County in Ontario...where he died in 1870....
I just don't know where to look for him.

I can find 1871 & 1881 Canadian census entries for Thomas & Mary.

Mary appears to have died 21 July 1886.Her death entry states that she was born in Norfolk England.

Usually we use the site familysearch.org for information about our ancestors with events pre 1 July 1837. This contains birth marriage & deaths as recorded in the Parish records.

eI note that your family are non conformist, Methodists, these records are harder to track, but if you look on the site mentioned under RG4 - RG8 you may find them

The son Thomas seems to have married pre 1850/51 the year his son James was born.

Entry into Canada could be between 1825 - 1850!

    Forgive me for the basics

    1) Go to www.familysearch.org

    2) select 'search' at the top of the page

    3) Scroll down the page until you see the country listings, select 'United Kingdom'

    4) You will see all the records held for the UK ( this is being added to on a reguar basis) immediately under UK Census 1911 you will see

England and Wales, Non-Conformist Record Indexes (RG4-8)

I have been having a look around and found a marriage 1838 of Nicholas WAYTE to a Mary BAYFIELD in 1838 in Aylsham Norfolk, set me thinking that maybe Thomas maybe of another marriage????

#6 4) If you look further down you will see England,

    Norfolk Non-conformist Records, 1613-1901

NB Parish registers are the original source / Bishops Transcripts ( BT's) are a transcription of the original sourcefor the Bishop of the Diocese and can be prone to errors just as any transcribed document.

that means not Church of England
    Yes you are correct!

A link to non conformist records https://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/

The subscription site Ancestry.co.uk has limited non conformist records

Its wonderful that you can ask a question and someone will take the time to steer you in the right direction...
Thank you for the comments, there are several researchers on this site who you will find will assist you in your quest!!!

I'm not sure exactly who this is, might not even be related to your Wayte family.

    Marriage:

Hannah Eliza Wayte age 34, spinster. Born Whiteclere? Norfolk England.
    living South Vancouver
Parents: Thomas Wayte and Sophia Newstead
    to
Walter Hayles age 32, bachelor, warehouseman. Born: Bow, London
living 48th Cen? Vivian Rd, South Vancouver
Parents: Walter Hales and Helen Moss

Married by Licence 4 October 1913 St Thomas Church, South Vancouver.
Witness: George Henry and Laura Lillian Chamberlain of South Vancouver.

Hannah Hales died age 90 on 25 Jan 1968
at Normandy? Private Hospital, Vancouver...heart attack I think.
    Born: 1 Feb 1877
Parents: Thomas Wayte and Sophia Newstead of England.
    Widow of Walter Hales.
Cremated 25 Jan 1968 at Vancouver Crematorium.

It was looking good until I saw this 1911 England Census:
Thomas Wayte 1834 Wickmere, Norfolk. Farm lab.
    wife: Sophia 1842 Wickmere
son: Walter 1866 Wickmere. Farm lab.
son: Arthur 1869 Wickmere. Farm lab.
    dau: Georganna 1872 Wickmere.
Thomas and Sophia married 49 years. 7 children/6 living.

Thomas Wayte and Sophia Newstead married March quarter 1861 Aylsham, Norfolk.

I first though Hannah might have been a daughter to Thomas c1825, but its not looking that way now is it?

I've looked at the 1871 Ontario Canada census for Nicholas Wayte c1805 England.
    residence: Lennox, Richmond Township.
    farmer. Primitive Methodist.
    page D.

Page D means this individual did not appear on the regular census schedule, but instead was listed on the schedule that recorded deaths that had taken place within the last 12 months.
..and Nicholas Wayte is on page 2 of the 1871 census. Listed as Death month of August from Typhoid Fever.

I did look through the non-conformist registers but couldn't see a baptism for Nicholas or Thomas Wayte.

    Sorry, its of no help!

    Rebecca
