Edmonds of East Sussex

I am researching the Edmonds family of East Sussex, also spelled Edmunds, Edmans and Edmens. Origination in Rye area, family most prolific in church registers of Ewhurst, Peasmarsh, Beckley and Bodiam areas. Cannot get further back than Joseph Edmonds, born at Beckley in 1780. Most were Agricultural Labourers. My branch of the family moved to Marden in Kent in the 1870's.
Would appreciate any info. on the early family, pre 1780 if anyone has any, or is anyone else out there looking at the same family? Members of the family married into the CHRISTMAS, MONK, GOODSELL and JARMAN families in and around Ewhurst in 19th century.
