Census Look-up 1941/1951
Hi Doug,
Sorry about that. A census look-up for1941 or/and 1951, if 1941 exists. I would like to know if any places of birth are recorded so that I have a better chance at finding the Birth Certificates. Any mentioned sibblings would be a bonus.
Would Ann Brown's date of birth appear on the Marriage Certificate, and that of her parents? She married Robert William Roulston in West Derby, Lancashire in 1856.

Hi Brad,
I assume you mean 1841 or 1851 not 1941/51.
Unfortunately I don't have access to these - perhaps others do.
British marriage certificates usually show age - not date of birth.

1. Have you tried Family History Online (1851 census index)?
2. 1841 does not give birthplaces (just whether or not born in the county)

1861 & 1871 census look-up of Thomas William Brown
Thomas William Brown b:±1812 England d:7 May 1877 West Derby, Lancashire, England.
Sarah Walteling b:±1815 Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England d:20 May 1880, West Derby, Lancashire, England.

I am not having much luck trying to track them down on the earlier censuses, would someone please aid me in my quest?Last edited by brad; 29-11-2005 at 9:57 AM.

Hi Brad
West Derby & Toxteth Park are both "villages" in Liverpool and also large Registration districts in Liverpool. See this site for a list of all the areas covered by the Liverpool registration districts. http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/lan.htm
This is probably your family in 1851. HO107/2189 page 40 folio 374, 23 Portland St, Everton, Liverpool
Thomas Brown head M 39 clerk Liverpool
Sarah Brown wife M 36 Liverpool
Ann Brown dau 17 Liverpool
Elizabeth Warton U 22 servant Loughborough
In the 1861 census Sarah gives her place of birth as Toxteth.
There won't be birth certificates for any of the family as civil registration only started in 1837 and even Ann was born before that. You will need to get a copy of her marriage certificate to prove who her father was.Last edited by Wirral; 29-11-2005 at 10:12 AM.

According to the IGI
Thomas William Brown married Sarah Whalteling 19 December 1831 at St Nicholas, Liverpool
Ann Brown christened 15 Jan 1834 St Peter, Liverpool, father Thomas William Brown, mother Sarah.
The baptism entry would give the father's ocupation & where Sarah was born. This might be a full address, or might just be an area.
About 50 children were baptised each day at St Peter's (the parish church of Liverpool) so if they are not already listed on the IGI it is not possible to look for other siblings.
