    Default Who was Mary?

I have a baptism in 1781 - 28 May - for a Thomas Laity, son of Thomas and Mary, in St. Hilary.

    I cannot locate their marriage.

    Can someone else?

    Could this be it?

    15th April 1780, St Erth
Thomas LAITY of St Hilary, Farmer, made his mark (not signed)
Mary BLIGHT, OTP, made her mark

Married by Banns published 27th February, 5th & 12th March
Witnesses Edward RAWLINGS & James HARSKE

Quite possibly, Jan, but can we be sure?

Never possible to be sure Colin, but we can pick up circumstantial evidence which might fit. Does the baptism mention Thomas' occupation? If it is farmer, then it helps to support the theory. It would be more useful if he had some really odd obscure job, but we can't always be that lucky!

I would say there is a very high likelihood that is the correct marriage.
