You chaps are super, indeed. When William and Elizabeth's children marry they give their father's occupation as a stonemason or stone cutter. I could well be convinced by the pronunciation and the baptismal record.

There was a William JACKA marrying an Elizabeth Parne 28.11.1825 in Calstock, Cornwall.

Thanks Nankervis. I had seen that before but hadn't connected the citation "of Chawleigh" which describes William Jacka potentially as meaning Chulmleigh which I now suspect it does. I'll have a closer look at the orginal entry next time I'm in Truro.

I see that Chulmleigh and Chawleigh are neighbouring parishes.
