    Hi graham
Could it be one of the Irish regiments? Is your triangle an Irish Harp with a crown on top? Try Connaught Rangers, Irish Hussars.

PS Forget it, I've just seen the photo.

I am pretty sure the photo was taken around WW1 time. Are we in agreement it is an army uniform? I have looked in books but have drawn a blank with the collar and cap badge!

British bandsmans cap badge two nut and bolt attaching devices
Hugh. although it doesn't have the crown on top.

    Hi Graham,
What was his name and date of birth and more or less where he was living, perhaps I can look for his service records for you

unfortunately i have no information! the photo was found when an elderly relative moved! did cross my mind that he might be a bandsman, but are we talking military or civillian?

If the uniform was navy in colour it would be No.1 dress which was possibly only held by regulars before the war. The cap badge looks like a marine but the collar badge could be Irish??? I am no expert so do not shoot me please.
