Hallo,
My name is Tanja van Zon-Anderson and I am new on this forum.
I am from the Netherlands.
I am searching for more information of my uncle Gilbert Anderson.
He was a member of the 11th batallion parachute regtiment and killed in action during WW2 Battle of Arnhem.
He died on the 25th of september 1944 and he was first burried in a fieldgrave at Onderlangs Arnhem (nearby the river Rijn). Now he is burried at Oosterbeek in a unknown grave.
The wish of my Dad and me is the find his grave and give him a headstone with his name on.
During my search I find more and more information. That provide a lot answers but also a lot of questions.
I do hope that members of this forum can help me and if possible I would like to help others aswell with their research.
Greetings
Tanja

Hello Tanja, and welcome! I am also rather new here, but you will find everyone very helpful. I just wanted to say that my husband was born in Utrecht, and his parents were in the Resistance during the war. Nederlanders were very brave, and put up with a lot. I don't know if I can be of much help, but I will try. I wish you success in your search. The members here have a lot of knowledge, and I know that they will do their best to help.
Best regards,
Cheryl

Hallo Cheryl,
I am born in Arnhem. My father came to Arnhem to commemorade the fallen of the battle of Arnhem.
He came to the house of my dutch grandparents and met my mother. And here I am.
I think I do know how brave the dutch were. My dutch grandfather was with the resistance. He also profide food in (gaarkeukens) public kitchens to feed the poor in the winter of 1944.
Greetings
Tanja
