is there any easy way to find out causes of death because i am trying to trace the route of the breast cancer gene through my family

As far as I know, only by buying a death certificate.
Sometimes there will be a cause of death entered in a burial register but you need a copy of the register to see that and very few are on line.
If it is Scotland you can find some links by googling for 'scotland burial records online'.

Hi Lillias Luke.
Obviously you can only go back to 1837 with death certs, 1 July 1837. Also if they died in a hospital or something the cause may be stated as well. And a lot of early death certs gave just "cancer" or something but that is better than nothing in researching for medical purposes.
