Cool Alexander HARBIN & Hannah WALL, Somerset

Hi all. I'm researching Alexander Gray HARBIN and his wife Hannah WALL of Somerset. So far I have the following information:
Alexander & Hannah were married 27 September 1830 at All Saints Church, Castle Cary, the parish for both of them was Castle Cary, Somerset.
Their first son was Daniel HARBIN, baptised 15 August 1831 at All Saints, Castle Cary, abode Castle Cary.
Another son, Samuel HARBIN was baptised 13 September 1835 at St Andrew's Church, Compton Dundon, abode Littleton, Somerset.
Alexander & Hannah emigrated to South Australia from Compton Dundon in 1840 with three children, Mary Ann, Samuel and Louisa HARBIN. Daniel must have died in England as he doesn't appear on any records in South Australia.

I'm trying to find anything I can on Alexander's parents and siblings. I've found five HARBIN children baptised at St Thomas-a-Becket in Lovington, Somerset to parents William HARBIN and Mary (possibly GRAY).
    - William, 17 October 1776
    - Alexander, 16 April 1780
    - Samuel, 3 August 1783
    - George 25 December 1785
    - Robert, 7 December 1788
A sixth child to William was Mary Ann HARBIN, 3 January 1802, but her mother was Haner ?, possibly second wife as a Mary HARBIN wife of William was buried 26 June 1792 at Lovington.
I've also found a burial for an Alexander, 24 February 1782 in Lovington which I thought was one of the five children of Mary and William, but I've seen the name written as Alexandria HARBIN, so I just don't know if the Alexander baptised 16 April 1780 is mine or not.

I'm also trying to find a baptism for Alexander and Hannah's daughter Mary Ann HARBIN (sorry, hope I'm not confusing everyone, there are a lot of Mary Harbins in this family)

Hoping some one may be able to help me find Alexander's parents, siblings and his daughter Mary Ann. Thanks.

    Hi annegen

The first question that springs to my mind is - when was Alexander approximately born? Do you have his age from a source such as his death certificate?

I see that he died in 1864 in the Adelaide district.

Have just spotted an entry for him on an Ancestry tree that records his age at death as 64 years. This would give a birth date of approximately 1800.

Note: Their source is the Australia Death Index (1787-1985) database on Ancestry. You would need to check and verifiy this for yourself as I don't have the relevent sub.

There is the marriage of another child of Alexander's in the SA records you have not mentioned:

Caroline Grey (sic) Harbin married Thomas Elliott on the 29th September 1862 at Trinity Church, Adelaide.

She is described as the 22 year old daughter of Alexander Harbin, and he is described as the 21 year old son of Pearson Elliott.

Caroline and Thomas had six children between 1863 and 1890. Caroline also had an illegitimate child (Andrew Harbin) born in 1860 at Darley.

Hi Olliecat, Nankervis & Judyg. Thank you very much for your help, its very much appreciated.

In reply to your thoughts and suggestions this is the information I have:
In 1840 on the "Register of Emigrant Labourers applying for a Free Passage to South Australia" Alexander was 34 (approx. birth 1806). On the South Australian 1841 Census his age was "Under 50". He was 64 years according to the SA Digger Death Index (approx. birth 1800).

My Mary Ann Harbin was aged 7-14 on the SA 1841 Census.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mention Caroline (or Tamsen) as they were born in South Australia and I've accounted for them.

    Again, thank you all.

    Cheers
    annegen
