    Default Benjamin Skeat Brick layer/builder

I've traced my Skeat lot back to the birth of Benjamin Skeat in 1720 in Liverpool and that is where I hit the brickwall. Can't find hide nor hair of the Skeats before him. I knowed they stayed in Liverpool for a while and then moved to the Atherton/Tyldesley area, I can trace the skeats all the way from Benjamin forward to my mums lot in the present day, no problem there. The only other Skeats that are builders before 1720 are in London. Since they (the Skeats) were builders right up until the 20th century I would presume that the 1720's Benjamins father would have been a builder as well. Would love to find a connection to demolish the wall. I've looked in heaps of places, gone off on obscure side tracks and everynight dream of chasing elusive ancestors through the dark corridors of time.

Hi Jan, what is your source for Benjamin's birth, please? Any idea as to where in Liverpool this event took place as there are a fair few parishes in that area to check.

His birth date was given to me by a distant family member, his daughters baptism records are from Our Lady and St. Nicholas with St Anne. Some of the later Skeats stayed in Liverpool and had a restaurant in the 19th century.
The address on the baptism record is down as Georges Street

Hi Jan - what was their source? If it came from a parish register, there should be a note of at least one of his parents.
