Was married to a Ann Roberts in 1795 Edgbaston
What does the register say? Was the marriage by banns? Were they both "of this parish"?

Hello Peter & David thanks for your help, Nathaniel Porter and Ann Roberts were married on the 18/6/1795 at Edgbaston no indication if by Banns or of this parish on my copies of the marriage from Ancestry.

Hello David thanks for your help, just checked with Nathaniel Porter ch. 31/5/1760 he married a Mary Burston on the 5/11/1792 and passed away on the 16/10/1826 I was so sure he was the right one. The fact that Nathaniel Porter was a clog maker perhaps he came from Holland where they make this kind of shoe?

Clogs were made in this country so I dont think he was Dutch.
There is a Nathaniel Porter born on 21 June 1761. Chelmarsh. Shropshire.
    Father Nathaniel and Mother Jane.
Nathaniel Porter married Jane Pugh (widow) Nov 11th 1760. Chelmarsh. He was a blacksmith so it is also posible that he made clogs and patens (patens kept shoes out of the muck and mud) and passed this skill on to his son.

There are children of a Nathaniel Porter and Wife Ann.
Nathaniel Porter. 10th Oct 1799. St Phillips. Birmingham.
Caroline Porter. 02 May 1801. as Above.
Harriot Porter. 31 Aug 1803. as above.

Now if any of these people are your Nathaniel I cannot say but it may be worth making note of them.
    Cheers
    Dave.

To confuse matters there is another couple, also Nathaniel & Ann, having children baptised in Chelmarsh at the same time: see

    http://www.
    parishmouse.co.uk/shropshire/chelmarsh/index.html

John bapt 1 March 1795 (an infant John Porter was buried on 17 March 1796)
    William bapt. 18 Sept 1796
    Thomas bapt 16 Dec 1798
    Matilda-Ann bapt 1 March 1801
    Fanny bapt 1 Jan. 1804
    Ann bapt 5 Oct 1806
John bapt 12 Feb 1809 (an infant John Porter was buried 27 April 1809)
Nathaniel bapt 5 Aug 1810 (an infant Nathl. Porter was buried 28 Jan. 1811)
[transcript stops at end of 1812]

I can't see a marriage at Chelmarsh for this couple. Perhaps they are the Nathaniel Porter and Ann Marrian who married at Worfield, Shropshire, on 26 June 1794, according to FamilySearch.

The burial register transcript doesn't extend far enough to see if this Nathaniel was buried in Chelmarsh and (if so) how old he was when he died. If he is the Nathaniel who was baptised in Chelmarsh in 1761, I don't think he can be the same one who was in Birmingham, unless he had a wife in each place.

What sort of record have you found on Ancestry, Janet? If it is just a transcript you need to get a copy of the actual register entry. There should be signatures (or marks) of bride, groom and two witnesses, which can be crucial for identification purposes. You would also expect a marriage register of this date to give some additional information too: see Peter's post #3.

Thanks a lot for your help everyone, the copy of the marriage is just a yellow piece of information showing both of their names and place Edgbaston and the year 1795, I am connected to the couple through Harriett Porter baptised 1803 St. Phillips Birmingham.

    Thanks again,
    Janet

    Thumbs up Nathaniel Porter

Hello everyone I have purchased the copy of the marriage between Nathaniel Porter and Ann Roberts its very faint by Banns, witnesses Sarah Peplow and John Merrick, both of this parish, this is the only record. As I have both of their death certificates which clearly states of Nathaniel Porter 15/1/1844 aged 85 so he was born in 1759 somewhere other than Birmingham, Warwickshire. I will search for him in the Eastham district.

    Thanking you all.

Hello All, I have just found out that the Nathaniel Porter who was baptised on the 31/5/1760 at Eastham isn't mine, he passed away long before 1844, I will search now in the Chelmarsh area, thanking you all.
