Default CHARLOTTE HARNETT (possibly nee LANE)

Census records for 1851/1861 & 1871 show married couple George & Charlotte Harnett (St Olave & Bermondsey areas).
I have tried in vain to locate a record of their marriage.
I have been researching my elusive Charlotte for sometime, and have had a nudge that her maiden name was "Lane", this hasn't really shed any light on the matter, and I'm beginning to wonder whether they were actually married at all!
Charlotte was a Plymouth, Devon lass.
    Any info would be fantastic.
    Thanks for reading...

Hello sammysaid - welcome to Brit-Gen,

Did they have any children? If so, the birth certificate of one of them should provide Charlotte's maiden name, which in turn will help to nail the marriage.

Could you provide the census references for where you have found them and then others with access may take a peek.

    Thanks,

The baptisms of a couple of their children appear on Ancestry's London Parish Registers both at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey:

25 July 1860 (born 21 January 1853) Mary Anne daughter of George & Charlotte HARNETT, Brunswick Court, Labourer
25 July 1860 (born 23 May 1849) Charlotte daughter of George & Charlotte HARNETT, Brunswick Court, Labourer

1861 census ref for the family is RG9/323, folio 52, page 37 where they are living at 30 Brunswick Court. George is shown to be born in Lambeth as are children George, Thomas & Charlotte. Mary Anne is shown as born Bermondsey.

1851 census ref is HO107/1559, folio 549, page 8 where they are living at Parish Street, Southwark.

Charlotte's birth registration is in the June qtr 1849 at Lambeth reg district, vol 4, page 256. There is one for a George HARNETT at Lambeth in the June qtr 1843, vol 4, page 216. Do check the references for yourself before ordering a certificate just in case I have made an error.

Hi valg, I have looked at the census you suggest a few times.
I don't think this is my girl....
I have a death recorded in 1885, St Olave, London, Surrey in the name of Charlotte Harnett.
It just dosen't sit right with me that she would be in Devon in 1881, calling herself Charlotte Lane - widow, and four years later she dies in London/Surrey and her name is Harnett???
I know it's possible, but it dosen't seem right...
    What do you think????

If daughter Charlotte HARNETT married William EDGINGTON in 1877, then she is in the 1881 census living in St Olave Southwark. Her mother Charlotte is staying with her but her birth place and age are incorrect.

    See RG11: Piece: 580 Folio: 53 Page: 3

Edit: On checking Ancestry's London, England, Marriages and Banns, Charlotte HARNETT married William EDGINGTON on 17 Sep 1877 at Bermondsey St Mary Magdalene and her father' name was George. Thus, the 1881 census entry looks like a good bet.

Good find even though was not easy to locate on Ancestry from details..putting in the details supplied I kept ending up at
    Class: RG11; Piece: 580; Folio: 52; Page: 2
which only had Charlotte Edgington and her 2 children, going to original and scrolling to next page located them on original.

Hi Sammy u are correct olliec has located Charlotte in 1881.so the death you have in Surrey looks like being correct..back to your original post there is always the possibility that the couple did not marry..
You need to get a birth cert for 1 of the children before proceeding any further..really need a maiden name for Charlotte
