    Question Benerley, Ireland?????

Can anyone please tell me if there is or ever was a place called Benerley, Ireland?
I have googled with no luck. I am searching someone with ties in Northern Ireland...trying to find a connection of someone to my ancestors and have found a tree on A that lists a birth place as Benerley.

    Thanks

    Sue

    Hi Sue,

The counties in Northern Ireland are:
    Londonderry
    Antrim
    Down
    Armagh
    Tyrone
    Fermanagh

I have had a look on the Ireland page of GENUKI and checked each of those counties, but cannot see anything that comes even close to Benerley.

Have a look yourself and see if there is anything that could be what you are looking for. Were there any other clues?

I was thinking more that it was the name of a town!

I am beginning to think it is a typical screw-up on the part of a tree owner on that web-site. I am trying to figure out if Robert Mitchell from Ireland who married Sarah Jane Earl Ashbury ( Earl her maiden name, Ashbury from her first marriage)in 1860 in Ontario can give me a clue as to where my gr.grandfather came from in Ireland. I have heard Armagh ( from my Dad), Donegal ( from some others searching who can't get past the famine ship either) and then found a possible sister that was born in Tyrone. On the 1871 Canadian census Sarah Jane Mitchell was a visitor at my gr. grandparents house and I am trying to figure out why. She was Canadian born so I wondered if the connections were through her husband and my gr. grandfather. I know, I'm reaching for straws

I think if an Irishman can't find it it likely does not exist and is either a typo or incorrect information.....
Thanks to those who looked. One of these years someone will find the link we need.......enough of us are looking.

A transcript of the marriage of Robert Mitchell and Sarah J. Ashberry, from 'Ontario, Canada, Marriages 1801-1928', gives Benerley as Sarah's birthplace, while Robert's is just shown as 'Ireland':

I think this is from an Ancestry database. If the original image of the marriage register is online you should check to see if you agree with the transcription. As censuses show that Sarah was born in Ontario then perhaps 'Benerley' is Beverley, Ontario?
