I received an e-mail saying the 1911 entry found was...
Name: William Henry Farnell. Birth Date: 10 Sep 1884. Christening Date: 28 Sep 1884.
Christening Place: Northwood, Staffordshire, England. Age at Christening: 0
Father's Name: William Farnell. Mother's name: Mary Ann
1891 Census shows he was living with parents and 2 brothers, Arthur and Frederick, at 9, Clarence Street, Fenton, Stoke on Trent.
The 1901 Census has his surname corrected by TerranceBrooks... and Ethel and John have been born, now living at 87, Oldfield Road.
These are not his parents or siblings.... havent had chance to check the entries yet but my great uncle was in Botteslow street, Stoke in 1891 and Paxton street, Hanley in 1901.

Thanks BM.
I thought that the 1911 William might be the son of William and Mary, and the William Henry birth registered in December quarter 1884. I do think it was most inconsiderate that he failed to give his second name both when he married and in the 1911 census, as that would have saved us a lot of hassle.
I did wonder if your William had died, but couldn't see a suitable death registration for him.
Have you considered that he might have emigrated?
Pam

what i find curious is that it appears that both brothers William and Henry are not on the 1911 census..... i wonder why.....? Also if William didnt serve in the great war, having been released by the army due toa scar and constricture of the finger would this rule him out of other service....?
