To KATH and WAITABIT
Thanks KATH for trying to find the family in the 1891 census, which is very good of you. Perhaps one day they'll turn up! I still don't understand how an entire family can vanish, altho realise that probably the reason we can't find HENRY/HARRY on the 1901
census is because there were so many Watson families and so many with the same name for the parents. Eveni f his name
appears on a census there is no way of knowing if it's him or not.
WAITABIT Thanks for yours. Have noted the typing instructions which I'll try one of these days when feeling more courageous!
Have just emauled Wiluna to see if they'll shed some light on what the Police Constable said about the 102 year old!
I'm beginning to feel that age myself.
best wishes
Jill

Jill,
Do you have the marriage certificate of Henry and Jane? This will clarify his name and help to narrow down his parentage, which may help finding a death record.

TO WARNCOURT
Thanks so much for your further posting which is much appreciated.
In fact you have jogged me into putting a message on here updating what little progress I have made
But to answer your query. Yes I have the marriage certificate for Henry & Jane (with a lot of incorrect facts on
I have discovered, but that's another story) this doesn't in fact help because I do know his parents as he was
one of my late maternal grandmother's brothers.
TO UDPATE FROM MY PREVIOUS POSTINGS.
I have in fact now found his birth certificate here and he was born 7th December 1886 in Gateshead England
(near Newcastle on Tyne)
I have this evening emailed again the Wiluna Police station as there have been rather a lot of emails between
various people and they, as indeed several people do, refer me on and on and on. They told me to contact the Electoral
Commission which doesn't get me very far since just because a name matches doesn't give any other info. i did contact them
but they told me to find his death! The Police originally had said they thought they had someone who fitted the description aged 102 but won't/can't disclose info.
Does anyone know wehther if harry died on a station whether because it was so remote no one would know or legally
would someone have had to inform say the Police in Wiluna, altho they don't a record of his death.??
I am kicking myself too because i suddenly thought that I could try to find him from a cattle station in Wiluna and have
just been sent, somewhat to my surprise, a list of stations so I can email them. As I say, cross I didn't think of this before.
I asked Wiluna if they have a local radio station to put an announcement out but they told me they don't but to contact ABCwhich I have just done.
The above deals with Wiluna but prior to that harry and his wife farmed at Koorda. i thought from 1920 to 1932 but is it
possible someone can look up electoral rolls - I don't know if this informaiton is available? He was in Koorda in 1917
because he is mentioned in a book about Pioneers as building the first hall there. He sold c1927 (having made his fortune
apparently due to the high price of wheat) and moved to Perth. In 1928 they are down as living at 14 Victoria Avenue,
Claremont, Perth. i was wondering how long they were there.? From her diary I calculated c1935 when they went their
separate ways and it is believed he went off to seek his fortune - again! It is then I ahve been told he was seen in Wiluna
in 1948 presumambly living with hsi second family - on a station where he either met someone who already had children
or with whom he had children - family believe two.
i am well aware this is like looking for needle in a haystack but just trying to explore absolutely every avenue

Jill again - I have said that Harry was one of my gm's brothers and I have just been re-reading some letters
sent to my gm in 1961 from friends of Harry's wife Jean (or should it be first wife?!) The person writing says when referring
to Jean's death that she took Jean's age from her passport "when she took that trip to England in - and I think it says -
1937." (also looks like 1939 but imagine that is wrong) so two questions please
1) Can anyone kindly find info on her sailing to the UK. Family here believe that as no one met her she stayed on board
and went straight back - presumably sailed from Fremantle. Perhaps the passenger list entry might give her marital status
in which case it might say divorced as opposed to married. Have no idea if they divorced after their separation.c1935
2) Passport - I assume Jean would have applied for an Australian passport for that trip in 1937? I believe when she
and Harry sailed to Fremantle in 1911 passports weren't needed. If she applied for a passport in Australia assume
it is too long ago to get any information from that? ie amrital status.
thanks to everyone
Jill
