Hi there I've decided to do something about researching my family history. I was always hoping someone else in the family would, but no one else seems bothering and as I get older, I feel it's important to have some sense of the past for my son and future generations. So glad to have found this site and looking forward to the journey ahead!!

PS: This may sound stupid, but how do I attach a photo etc to a post? When I click on 'insert image' it asks for a URL. I don't know how to do this. Can I not just browse from the files on my computer and choose an image/file????

There is nothing like the thrill of the chase when searching for your ancestors, so be pleased that nobody has beaten you to it in your family!

In order to attach images to posts, use a hosting website such as Photobucket. Instructions are here as to how to do this.

Have a good rootle round and post your questions, stopping off on the way to read the Terms of Service.

You may be surprised at who may have joined in at a later date, with just a hint of your same forebears. Here is just one way to find them.
As you post with yet other names or areas a spark may be lit somewhere.good luck.
