Yes - providing I am sure the man I want is Joseph Tetlow and not Joseph Holland, I will follow up on the birth mentioned. The Rochdale archives kindly checked for a burial report in local newspapers, but there was none. Also no further details in parish burial register but they have given me a phone number for the vicar at St James's church where Joseph was buried, so I am going to try and find out if anyone else is buried with Joseph which might help. Many thanks to everyone who suggested lines to follow. Fingers crossed I get some answers - unless of course they just don't want to be found!

Might anyone know which newspapers might have covered burial reports for someone who died in 1918 in Milnrow? I am trying to find details of the family of Joseph Tetlow, who died December 8th 1918 and am hoping funeral details may provide answers. I have a copy of the death certificate, but am having difficulty tracing Joseph's exact birth records (c1856 Hyde, Cheshire)

Have you tried the Rochdale Observer?
