Thanks tp all that replied to my post. John Standen in England and I have come to the conclusion that her name was Ann H. Howden. With the brough in the accent, it was probably written down wrong.

here in East Yorkshire (sorry Daft Bat it's not South Yorkshire) the accent isn't so pronounced, and with a place called Howden within 20 miles, it seems strange for anyone to mistake HOLDEN and HOWDEN. Of course the vicar may have been at the communal wine when he entered the details. hic!!!!!
