I've just been trawling through the Australian newspaper site (TROVE) with a search on "William Tuson". I came across something that appeared to be a murder trial printed in a paper dated 1917. So I thought I'd make a later search for a William Tuson who died in 1917.
But then a bit further down the list of 'hits' I came across the same item but that paper was published in 1942. How could these trials be so far apart.
So I went to full paage view of the newspaper and the answer was at the top of the page - The article was a SHORT STORY - ie fiction!!
Oh well, back to TROVE to see if I can find something more relevany to my research.

I would have been disappointed also. I can just feel the heart palpations when you first found this murder trial...the thrill of the hunt and all... and then someone really dumped a bucket of cold water on your head. Nothing ever comes easy, does it?

Yes, I was quite excited because in my database there is a line of the TUSONs who were pawnbrokers, money lenders, etc., sand that family lived close to where the story was set, so it was a bit of a let down. But that is what makes this subject so fascinating - you win some, you lose some, but you never give up searching.
