How do I post a thread where the general public
can see it

Welcome to the forum.

The general public will be able to view any thread that you post on this forum. If you want to know which of the boards to post to, have a look at the the main forum page here. If you scroll down you will see a variety of topic headings. If you click on one of the heading you can explore that board and view the messages that have already been posted to that particular board. When you have found a board that you think is suitable for your topic, then click the 'Post New Thread' button to start your own thread.

If you are unsure of which board to post on, the General Family History Queries board is probably the best bet, but we can always move a thread for you if necessary, so don't worry too much.

The FAQs are also useful, if you get stuck.
