Hi Ellis - welcome to Brit-Gen

Get comfy, have a good old rootle round and post your questions on the most appropriate board. The members here love a challenge and, the more clues that you can provide for them to work with, the better!
Have fun!

Hi, Ellis.
I'm not very far from you over here in Baldwin County. You will find the folks on this forum very helpful and very friendly. Good luck with your research.
Regards,
Barb

Hi again Ellis,
As Barb is not online at the moment, I would suggest that you post your query on the General Scottish forum. If at a later stage, we can narrow it down specifically and you would like it moved to another board, that can also be done.

Ha, Ha! Jan, the super moderator, as usual, is quick, clever and correct! Start in the forum she suggested, and then, if it turns out all the Scott action is more localized, the thread can be moved.
Also, folks here will tell you to dive right in, don't be shy, etc. They really mean it!

i noticed you are researching the surname of Brown......my grgr grandfather was James Franklin Scott born in Screven County, Ga in early 1800's, moved to Decatur County, Ga in 1829 than Jackson County Fl in the late 1840's...his secound wife was Jane Brown, born approx 1830....on one of the cenuse list she said she was from ga and on another one was from ala.....some tell me her real name is Roxie Jane Brown...have you ran accross this name? thanks
