I am currently researching the Enion tree-Wigan.Robert Enion married Nancy Brown in Wigan in 1857. I have census information for where they lived up until 1871 but then in 1878 in the Stott pit disaster Robert and two sons died. I cannot find out what happened to his wife and remaining children-she was Nancy Brown before they married and they had at least three other children-Maria, Samuel and possibly Walter. Can anyone help?

Hi Linda,
Although it does not help with the 1881 census, there is a marriage registered in the Wigan district for a Nancy ENION who married either Peter BIRD or William BLACKBURN. December quarter 1890, volume 8c, page 115.
Check out the 1891 census to see which one she married.

Looks like Nancy may have died in 1908.
Burial: 18 Jan 1908 St Stephen, Farnworth with Kearsley, Lancashire, England
Nancy Blackburn
Age: 68
Abode: Farnworth
Source: Registers held at St Stephens
(See the Lancashire OPC)
Weirdly, I think Nancy is in the 1901 census under her previous married name of ENION. At address 1, Kent Street, Farnworth.

Thanks for that-I expect I couldn't find it due to the @Emion@ rather than Enion. I tried Ennion but that didn't work. Here's another little problem-I have a child Kezia listed as being born, baptised and buried but the dates are all over the place-there seems to be three children all with the same name ranging from 1862 to 1879. Two were born in Haigh and the other was buried in 1879 in Kearsley. I assume they were all Nancy and Robert's but I could be wrong. One burial was in 1867, one in 1872 and as I said the other in 1879. Thanks for your help so far!

Yes, I think you're right that there are three different Kezias. Sadly, all of them died young. I don't have access to the burial records at the moment (are these on the Lancashire OPC site?) but from a baptism already mentioned above and the 1871 census (see below), it looks like the second and third Kezias were Robert and Nancy's daughters. It seems likely that the first Kezia was theirs too, but you'd need more evidence to prove this.
Kezia no. 1
The birth of a Kezia Enion was registered in the last quarter of 1861 in the Wigan district. She is presumably the 5 year old Kezia whose death was registered in the first quarter of 1867. You'd need to find a baptism or birth certificate, or death certificate, to find out if she was the daughter of Robert and Nancy.
Kezia no. 2
One-month-old daughter Kazia is with Robert, Nancy and the rest of the family on the 1871 census. Robert, Nancy and the older children are on RG 10/3884 f.144 p.37. Kazia is on the next page. Her age on the census is consistent with her being the Kezia Enion whose birth was registered in the first quarter of 1871 in the Wigan district. She may well be the 1 year old Kezia Enion whose death was registered in the Wigan district in the last quarter of 1872 (though you would expect her to had her second birthday by then).
Kezia no. 3
The birth of a Kezia Enion was registered in the Bolton district in the third quarter of 1878. This would fit with the baptism found by Terry (post#7) of Keziah daughter of Robert (deceased) and Nancy at Farnworth with Kearsley in 1878. She is presumably the one whose burial you have found in 1879 (there is a matching death registration, for Keziah Ennion, aged 0, in the Bolton district in the second quarter of 1879).
